Our Story
The idea for Zahave was born at a Christian festival in the Netherlands in 2024. Before one of the services began, Robert and Ilse found themselves reflecting on their experiences at the festival. Robert shared a dream he’d had: to create a Christian brand that offered faith-based products that were “less obviously Christian.” To his surprise, Ilse had been thinking about the same thing. In that moment, their shared vision began to take shape. Within minutes, they sketched out their first design in a notepad app on Robert’s phone—an abstract representation of the open grave.
Robert and Ilse’s goal was simple: to create designs that subtly reflect Biblical stories. For those “in the know,” these designs would be unmistakable, but they could be worn or displayed anywhere. We hope that when you wear Zahave’s apparel or display our artwork, it sparks meaningful conversations about faith. Our items are designed to give you a natural way to share your story and what you believe.
Our Name
The name Zahave (/zaˈhaːf/ 🔊 ) comes from the Hebrew word for “gold” (זהב). In 1 Kings 6:21, it is written that Solomon built the temple and overlaid it with pure gold. Today, we no longer have temples of stone, but as 1 Corinthians 6:19 reminds us, our bodies are now the temple of the Holy Spirit. If Solomon adorned the temple with gold, shouldn’t we treat our bodies the same? That’s how the name Zahave was born—as a reminder to live with purpose and honor the temple God has given us.
